The kitchen is often seen as the heart of the home. It's a spot where families gather to cook, dine, and bond. A comprehensive kitchen organisation guide can ensure this cherished area runs smoothly.
You'll discover ways to clear off countertops and organise both drawers and cupboards. These effective strategies will assist you in keeping your kitchen perfectly organised throughout the year.
Let's jump in and turn your kitchen into a beautifully organised haven that mirrors your lifestyle and personality!
REMOVE EVERYTHING
Begin by clearing out all items from your cabinets, countertops, and even the refrigerator. Starting with empty spaces allows you to clearly assess what you have. This is an excellent opportunity to thoroughly clean, especially in areas that are frequently overlooked. Make sure to clean every cabinet, worktop, closet, and even the fridge.
This may seem like an intense starting point, but trust me, you’ll feel much better organising a super-clean kitchen. Knowing those hard-to-reach and overlooked places are dirt and dust-free gives me such joy!
The hard part is over now. It’s time to move on to getting everything where it will live from now on.
DECLUTTERING
Decluttering your kitchen provides benefits that extend beyond mere tidiness. A key benefit is the simplicity of cleaning and maintaining cleanliness. After all, maintaining a neat kitchen is our main goal, isn't it?
So, what better place to begin than with the fundamental kitchen organisation rule #1: declutter everything!
With fewer items on countertops and in cabinets, wiping down surfaces becomes a quick task, saving you time and effort.
Additionally, organising your space provides more room to prepare meals and cook without feeling confined or stressed.
By tidying up your kitchen cabinets, you can get rid of expired or unnecessary items that have been forgotten at the back.
Now, I will address those challenging areas to organise: the cabinets, drawers, fridge, and pantry if you're lucky to have one.
We start with the tedious tasks first. After that, we can enjoy the exciting part—the styling!
ORGANISING .
When re-arranging your kitchen, consider how you use the space; often, the most challenging part is deciding where to place items like plates, mugs, and food.
Here's how I organized my kitchen: I stored food in cupboards near my oven for easy access to items like tins. Spices are kept in a drawer next to the oven for convenience. Utensils, oils, and chopping boards are arranged on the countertop around the oven. Glasses and cups are placed next to the fridge.
THE CABINETS
Organising your cabinets can greatly enhance your kitchen's functionality and visual appeal. Numerous organising tools are available to help you optimise your cabinet space. Stackable shelves and storage containers can maximise storage capacity, while additional drawers and cabinet door racks keep items easily accessible.
Clear storage bins and labeled containers assist in categorising and streamlining kitchen storage, making meal preparation and grocery list creation more efficient.
Furthermore, adjustable shelving and pull-out organisers allow you to customise your cabinets to accommodate your needs and your pots and pans.
Whether you want to declutter your countertops or create a more organised cabinet, many options can help you achieve a well-organised and efficient kitchen.

THE DRAWERS
No more junk drawer! Organising your kitchen drawers is a game-changer when it comes to kitchen efficiency.
Drawer dividers are ideal for separating utensils, keeping them organised and easy to find. Adjustable drawer organisers allow you to customise layouts for cutlery, measuring spoons, or cooking gadgets, making a significant difference. Organisers for plastic wrap, foil, and baggies not only keep you organised but add a chic touch. Drawer inserts with multiple compartments are perfect for smaller items like spice packets or tea bags. Magnetic strips on the wall are excellent for storing knives, freeing up drawer space and adding a chef-like charm. With the right tools, you can transform kitchen drawers into functional spaces, making meal prep easier.

THE FRIDGE
Optimising your fridge space is all about organisation and efficiency.
Begin by using storage containers and racks to make the most of every inch available.
Clear storage containers are ideal for storing leftovers, snacks, and meal prep ingredients. They let you see the contents, eliminating the need to rummage through the fridge.
Then, utilise stackable bins and storage racks to add extra layers in your fridge, making it easier to reach items at the back.
Additionally, use extra drawer organisers for fruits and vegetables to keep them fresh and easily accessible.
By incorporating these organising tools, you can transform your fridge into a well-ordered space, simplifying meal prep and cooking.
Here are some essentials for organising your fridge:
THE WORKTOP
This is where you should have the least work to do as the counter is where most of the food prep is done. I know in my house it’s where a ton of crap ends up when entering the house. When arriving home from work or the school run. With all this going on with your countertops, I believe less is more. The less you have on your counter daily, the less cluttered and unorganised it will look.
However, with limited cupboard space, this can sometimes be challenging. Here are my tips on storing kitchen items on your worktop without making it look cluttered and, most importantly, keeping it stylish.
I've arranged utensils in stylish plant pots, a nice knife block, refillable oil bottles, and chopping boards beside my oven. Additionally, I keep refillable jars for coffee, tea, and biscuits next to my kettle. I've noticed some home accounts feature beautifully styled coffee bars, which you might consider if you're interested. By my sink, I have refillable bottles for hand soap and dish soap on a tray, along with a brush (which I admittedly don't use, lol).
